For our plastic surgery patients in Beverly Hills, breast lifts are an attractive way to reverse the effects of time and gravity on the breasts.
A breast lift can combat skin laxity, increase the perkiness of the breasts, and restore a sexy, shapely silhouette. At The Plastic Surgery Institute, our board certified plastic surgeons are nationally recognized for their expertise in breast procedures like breast lifts. They can restore your breasts and boost your confidence.
A breast lift (mastopexy) is a surgical procedure designed to rejuvenate the breasts by raising their position and removing excess skin.
Breast lifts are primarily used to correct drooping, sagging, or downturned breasts; what physicians refer to as “ptosis of the breast”. This is done by “lifting” the breast to a more aesthetically pleasing position, restoring some volume and firmness to the breasts. Breast lifts are often combined with breast augmentation to enhance this effect.
During your breast lift Beverly Hills Plastic surgeons Dr. Ordon or Dr. Chopra will make several carefully placed incisions to remove excess breast tissue and skin. Your surgeon can also reposition the areola higher (or in a different direction altogether) when necessary so the nipple faces forward and more upwards. From there, the surgeon will resculpt and recreate the breasts using the techniques you chose during your surgical plan. Once your breasts are reshaped to your specifications, our surgeons will close the incisions and prepare you for your recovery.
The style of lift that works for you will depend on the existing position of your breasts, your degree of skin laxity, and your desired results. Our board certified plastic surgeons take each procedure as an opportunity to pair their proven techniques with your desires, so together, we can achieve incredible results.
There are multiple techniques that can be used to lift the breasts. The technique that works best is the one that works for you. At The Plastic Surgery Institute, we determine this by listening to your goals and applying them to your body. These techniques include:
The “Crescent” Lift
This technique offers minimal scarring to prevent or fix minimal sagging. It gets its name from the crescent-shaped incision that is made around the nipple. It is also named the “nipple lift” or “minor nipple lift.” The crescent lift offers natural looking results, but does not solve major structural issues.
The “Donut” Lift
The “donut” lift corrects mild sagging with a single scar around the nipple, which is how it gets its name. While it is virtually “scarless,” the results are limited. Like the crescent lift, the donut lift is a great solution to fix minor sagging, but may not work for more intensive corrections.
The “Lollipop” Lift
Named for the mild vertical scar beneath the breast following surgery, the “lollipop” lift corrects moderate sagging and yields more extensive reshaping than donut or crescent lifts. With proper skin care techniques, the vertical scar from the lollipop lift tends to flatten and fade with time, and in some cases appears almost invisible in the years following the procedure.
The “Anchor” Lift
If you imagine an anchor starting at the center of your nipples and moving down and around the bottom of the breast, that is the shape of the “anchor” lift. The anchor lift allows our expert surgeons the freedom to remove skin, completely reshape the breasts, correct extensive sagging and achieve dramatic results. It also is the lift with the most extensive scarring, though our expert surgeons work to make those scars as neat and clean as possible to promote proper healing and fading.
Because this is an outpatient procedure, you will want to make sure you have someone to drive you home following surgery, as you will be unable to drive yourself home after a breast lift.
Our breast lift patients will be tender for a few days following surgery. Therefore, we recommend you have a caregiver who can help you through the initial phase of recovery. Our surgeons at the Plastic Surgery Institute provide detailed recovery plans and timelines for each breast lift surgery patient to make sure they have the best chance for proper healing and results.
Our Beverly Hills breast lift patients notice results almost immediately following surgery. However, the breasts will shift over time to accommodate their new position and shape. This is completely normal.
Your doctor will have at least one follow-up appointment scheduled post-op to ensure that the incisions are healing, no complications are arising, and to make recommendations as needed to accelerate healing. When fitting bras, most patients will notice that their breasts don’t quite fit like they did before. This is normal, as the breasts have become firmer and rounder because of the procedure.
