Kybella is the first FDA-approved injectable, non-invasive procedure to reduce the appearance of submental fat, commonly known as “double chin”
Fat under the chin can give someone an older and heavier appearance. It can be resistant to diet and exercise because it is usually the result of genetics. While a double chin may appear as a result of weight gain, it can also appear over time as the skin begins to sag. The loss of skin elasticity may also contribute to the appearance of jowls, or the loss of smooth contour along the jawline.
Prior to Kybella, submental fat could only be treated with surgery. While liposuction and facelift procedures are tried and true treatments for the dreaded “double chin”, they are surgical methods which require the use of anesthesia and include more extensive recovery. Kybella is the only injectable FDA-approved treatment to reduce the appearance of fat under the chin, and may also be used to reduce the appearance of jowls as well as sculpt the jawline. Treatment consists of a series of injections containing synthetic deoxycholic acid. Kybella boasts a minimal occurrence of side effects and high satisfaction rate.
Kybella consists of a synthetic version of Deoxycholic Acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule in the human body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of fat. Kybella works by dissolving the fat cells to create a more sculpted and contoured chin.

Quick and easy treatment
Reduce appearance of under chin fat
Non-invasive with little to no downtime
The treatment takes approximately 20-30 minutes. Our injection specialist will start the procedure by placing a grid on the treatment site and carefully marking the injection site and boundaries as a guide.
Next the injector will administer 14-50 injections, depending on the particular treated area. During the treatment with Kybella Beverly Hills patients have sometimes experienced mild discomfort that subsides as treatment progresses. Recovery time is minimal in which patients can resume their normal daily activities immediately after. Some patients may experience temporary mild bruising or swelling for a week to 10 days after treatment.
Beverly Hills Kybella patients tend to notice results within a few weeks after their treatment as the body absorbs and reduces the fat. The best results are usually after 2-3 treatment sessions. The number of treatments needed varies based on the amount of fat to be reduced.

The number of fat cells within the body does not increase or decrease with changes in weight. The increase or decrease in fat within the body is related to the amount of fat stored within each fat cell. Kybella destroys the fat cells in the treated area, permanently preventing them from storing fat.
Two to three vials of Kybella may used in a single treatment.
Most of the time, desired results can be achieved in 2 to 3 treatments. Some patients require as many as 5 treatments.
Patients should not lie down for several hours following treatment, and sun exposure, exercise, and heat should be avoided for 3-5 days after treatment.
Kybella is ideal for patients who are 18 years of age or older, and who would like to eliminate excess fat below their chin or along the jawline.
Common side effects associated with Kybella treatment are mouth pain, throat pain, difficulty swallowing, nausea, and high blood pressure. Pain, numbness, tenderness, itching, bruising, and swelling may appear at injection sites. In some cases, Kybella may cause muscle weakness, asymmetry, or nerve damage.
Measures such as ice therapy, over the counter pain medication, elevation of the treated area, use of a chinstrap or head wrap, use of a warm compress, and massage may aid in the recovery process following Kybella treatment.
Kybella will not leave the skin in the treated area loose. In fact, the inflammation of soft tissues in the treated area is thought to have a tightening effect on the skin.
